Saw who is hoffman

Gordon was also held prisoner by Jigsaw after he escaped his trap, with Adam dying in the interim, whom Gordon had promised to help. Suspension of disbelief is needed to overlook how Jigsaw managed to procure materials to create his traps without garnering any suspicion. None of the apprentices had any technical background to pull off the complex mechanisms behind the games, yet they were somehow able to do so.

Logan was said to have worked as an Army medic, with this the reason he was gone for the events of the original films. Gordon was also absent for a long time after the first movie with no explanations given as to what he was up to before reappearing in Saw 3D. Amanda and Hoffman were well aware of what happened should someone fail their test, but acted out of character by ignoring the consequences. It stands to reason that an accomplice is aware of the brutal deaths that befall those who defy Jigsaw, meaning these people should logically be the most stringent with his rules.

By Saim Cheeda Published May 10, The marketing so far has revealed very little, outside of that a Jigsaw-esque serial killer has emerged, and is targeting cops, leading Rock's detective character to investigate.

It's entirely unclear if there will be any direct ties to the narrative of the previous Saw movies, or to John "Jigsaw" Kramer 's past games. It's also unknown if any characters from the other eight films are set to return, further tying Spiral back to the Saw installments of yore. One thing does seem certain though, and that's this is very much designed to be a Saw movie, and please Saw fans, as Rock himself is a noted fan of the franchise.

With Spiral: From the Book of Saw 's cop-centered plot though, we can't help but think back to another lawman who ended up playing a vital role in the Saw series: Detective Mark Hoffman Costas Mandylor. Arguably Jigsaw's most brutal apprentice, it's time for him to get back in the game. Since Jigsaw began the Saw franchise with terminal cancer, he naturally ended up dying after the first three films.

This left things up to John's various apprentices, some of which who weren't even aware of each other, to carry on his twisted legacy. Detective Hoffman became an apprentice after essentially framing John for a murder, and then being coerced by him into helping the cause for real. Then the door closes the box begins to be hidden in the ground by means of a mechanism and the walls begin to close. Hoffman stayed inside the box on the edge of the floor, while Strahm died from being crushed by the walls.

Jigsaw's autopsy happens after these events. And Hoffman will be put to the test by another accomplice, to make it clear that he is the new Jigsaw. In Saw VI, Hoffman traps an insurer, William, who denied a man's request for financial coverage, resulting in his eventual death.

It is later revealed that he played a key role in Jigsaw's death by denying his request for financial coverage, and that it is part of a much larger game in which Jigsaw wants Hoffman to collaborate with Jill. Unhappy, Hoffman visits Jill and tells her that he will run the game alone, demanding the information she has about those who will participate in the test. Jill gives Hoffman 5 of the 6 envelopes Jigsaw had left her, keeping the last one without telling Hoffman.

He discovers that Hoffman is Jigsaw's true apprentice and not Strahm, as Hoffman had tried to implicate. The biggest test comes when a sound technician analyzes the voice on the Seth Baxter tape and discovers that it is Hoffman's voice. Hoffman then burns the building to cover the evidence. A flashback explains that Hoffman had discovered that when Cecil robbed Jill's clinic for drugs, he was not acting alone.

Amanda, visibly immersed in her addiction and desperate to get high again, pressures Cecil to do it, and he inadvertently causes the abortion of Jill and John's son, Gideon. In the letter, Hoffman blackmails Amanda into murdering Lynn Denlon, telling her that if she doesn't she will reveal to John about her involvement in Jill's abortion.

Amanda's letter says:. You were with Cecil the night Jill lost Gideon. You killed his son. You know it and I know it, so do exactly what I tell you. Kill Lynn Denlon, or I'll tell John what. One of John's last wishes is for Jill to try Hoffman. Jill kidnaps and puts the inverted bear trap similar to what had Amanda in Saw I.

To escape, Hoffman breaks the bones in his left hand and manages to untie himself from the chair. Unable to open the trap lock, he breaks a window with his head and places the trap between some steel bars, locking the trap. When the trap is tried to open it does not do so completely and the lock breaks, allowing him to escape, but severely injuring his jaw and breaking the right part of his mouth. The film ends with Hoffman screaming in agony, wounded and disfigured but alive.

Hoffman after escaping from the trap devises a game in which he will go unpunished as he plans to kill Jill and escape the facts. Desperately, he searches for a first aid kit and carefully sews his cheek as he watches on television that the police found William's body Saw VI Later, knowing that he can no longer show himself in public, he burns everything related to his past life, including his identification as an officer and other information regarding him.

Somehow he manages to find out where Jill is and leaves a video explaining to Gibson that a new game has started. After the police put the bodies from the junkyard game in the sacks Hoffman blows up a car causing the police to go out to find out at that moment Hoffman takes one of the bodies and then he gets into the sack.

Already in the police station, when the coroner opens his jacket Hoffman kills him by stabbing him in the throat, at that moment another coroner approaches but Hoffman kills him, then kills several officers and finally reaches where Jill is who desperately tells him stick a feather in the neck and run to hide. That same night Hoffman decides to flee the country and fills a bag with clothes, money and a gun to survive. Then Hoffman destroys forever all evidence related to Jigsaw in an explosion, however when leaving he is attacked by three people with a pig mask Pigface and one of them is revealed as Dr.

Lawrence Gordon. It is revealed that after Gordon cauterized his foot, John found him and cleaned the wound and fitted him with a prosthetic foot. Then Dr. In the video, John explains to Dr. Gordon that it is his most prized possession and that if Jill dies his murderer must be punished in the game of his choice. Gordon takes him to where it all began, in the bathroom where the skeletons of Adam, Zep and Xavier are, there Hoffman is tied next to the skeleton of "Adam" and at that moment Dr.

Gordon appears and sees that Hoffman tries take the saw but he takes it and saying "I don't think so" throws it out of the bathroom, remembering when he cut his own foot. An angry Hoffman tells her that he can't do that to her, and starts yelling and cursing him. Gordon appears and sees that Hoffman tries to take the saw but he takes it and saying "I don't think so" throws it out of the bathroom, remembering when he cut himself his own foot.

In Saw IV we can see that Hoffman has wounds on his face, his nose bleeds and he is tied by the neck to the chair, for that someone helps him. In the beginning of Saw V agent Peter Strahm is kidnapped by a Pigface who puts him in the trap of the bucket of water. It cannot be Hoffman since he was saving Corbett Denlon and he never makes mistakes like leaving the pen in Strahm's pocket, with which he makes a tracheostomy to breathe.

In the same film we can see that, when Hoffman receives the distinction of hero and the promotion to detective lieutenant, there is a photographer whose face is not seen and who later disappears.

In Saw VI Hoffman kidnaps William Easton and thirteen other people in a few hours, something impossible for a single man to do unless he has help. In Saw 3D we see that Hoffman changes Dave's body from the junkyard trap, to then get into the forensic bag and go to the police station morgue to murder Jill Tuck , but this must be done in a few minutes due to the explosion of a car perpetrated by Hoffman and someone must help him lock himself in the bag.
