Important Note In order for these to spawn in the map, you must first start the server, and let it completely load up. Then, stop the server, and restart it, and the Crystal Wyverns will begin to spawn.
The Crystal Wyvern drops Bio-Crystal which is identical in structure to crystal, and can be used in place of crystal. Crystal Wyvern's are passively tamed by using Bio-Crystal. These creatures are skittish in nature, so they will flee when approached, so in order to get close enough to tame them, you will need a repellent that is stronger than regular Bug-Repellent, like the Bio-Repellant that can be found in Pet Craft Too.

Cap'n Kander 11 Apr, am. As for updating the mod, that has to wait until there is a stable version of the dev kit. For demonstration, the regions below are colored red over an albino Crystal Wyvern.
The colored squares shown underneath each region's description are the colors that the Crystal Wyvern will randomly spawn with to provide an overall range of its natural color scheme.
Hover your cursor over a color to display its name and ID. Type in values of a wild creature to see on which stats it's emphasized. Green values on a high-level creature are very good for breeding. If you have already tamed your creature you can try to recover the breeding stats with an external tool. The stat-calculator does not work in the mobile-view, see here for alternatives: Apps.
Note that after the creature is tamed it gets bonuses on some stats depending on the taming effectiveness. This makes it hard to retrieve the levels on a tamed creature, so this tool is only for wild ones , but gives a first impression, how well the stats are distributed. While the regular Crystal Wyvern only attacks when provoked through hitting it, the Crystal Wyvern Heir is highly territorial and fierce in defending its perceived airspace and its nest.
It also has a notably more powerful bite; quite possibly the most dangerous challenge you can face short of a boss-level creature. To add on to the difficulty of attempting escape, the speed it possess outmatches even the regular Wyvern and seems to even rival a Griffin. Put the crystal in your rightmost slot and walk approach to Wyvern and press E , ,. Primal crystals can be obtained by tranquilizing any of the wyverns and taking the crystals.
They will be hostile when they wake up, so either kill them after taking crystals, or move out of range. The Heir wyverns near the desert caverns cannot be tamed and are hostile, but they are good for providing Primal Crystals.
Ember Crystal Wyverns fire a longer-ranged but narrower fiery breath which does more overall damage which increases the more the fire breath is used consecutively. Blood Crystal Wyverns fire a mid-range blood stream which deals decent damage and siphons health over time to all targets hit inflicting "Blood Cursed! Tropical Crystal Wyverns fire a long range jet of water with high knockback and mediocre damage with "Scolded!
They are additionally buffed by water similarly to Spinos. It should be noted that all Crystal Wyverns other than Alpha and Heir variants are passive unless provoked, so it is advisable that unless the survivor is ready to fight them to leave them alone. The Crystal Wyverns have a notable weakness; and that is that every wyvern is weak against members of its own variant, so use this, and you'll get a substantial advantage.
They are also known to get bugged into trees, so if you're really in a pickle, run into the nearest forested area. For general information about domesticating a wild creature see Taming.
Crystal Wyverns except Heirs and Alphas can be tamed non-violently , rather than through the use of tranquilizers. They can be fed with Crystal or Primal Crystal while nearby. Do be warned that they tend to fly fast, which makes it difficult to tame them without causing aggression.
Using this way requires the survivor to be a minimum of level 65 in order to feed Crystal Wyverns; lower than that will prevent the survivor from actually feeding it.
By placing a large creature in front of it, the player is able to jump on its back where it can remain with out moving and able to feed while the wild wyvern flies around making the tame of it very fast. Alternately, a survivor can use a Grappling Hook to be carried with the Crystal Wyvern as it flies; however, this method can be risky, as the survivor will take some damage as it weaves around.
It is strongly suggested Parachute be on the hotbar, or a Glider Suit Skin Aberration on the armor, for those daring enough to attempt this! You can also pin them down with dino gates and feed them as needed. A wyvern trapped against some trees and a few dino gates is an easy tame target. A great way is to jump on their back between their shoulders then sit there while taming make sure to have parachutes in case you fall off, To get up jump on wings then jump up to shoulders.
If you're using normal crystals it's highly suggested to only tame up to the level 90 Wyverns or below because the taming might not be effective enough for it to succeed before the taming bar starts to reduce again. Using this method it could need you from 32 up to 90 crystals to tame a level 90 Wyvern, depending on what kind of setting you are playing at. Baby wyverns cannot be fed Raw Meat like most other carnivores; however, their food drops a lot slower.
They require Primal Crystal to increase their food and may ask for it when imprinting. A growing baby Wyvern will consume approximately 1 unit of food every 10 seconds, or units of food an hour.
This means that one feeding of Primal Crystal will sustain a baby Crystal Wyvern for about 58 minutes. While the ordinary Fire Wyvern deals a fixed amount of damage by fire and upfront, the Ember Crystal Wyvern deals more damage over the consecutive use of its fire breath. Similar to the Blood Crystal Wyverns, these variants also deal damage over time but can be considered more offensive in nature and capable of dealing more damage per second.
Tropical Crystal Wyverns are a slightly rarer breed than the Ember Crystal Wyvern and instead of having elements similar to other variants, it uses water. The Tropical Crystal Wyvern sprays a jet of scalding water, which reduces the health and stamina of those who are hit.
Having synergy with water, the Tropical Crystal Wyvern gains a buff when coming in contact which increases its movement speed, attack damage, and health regeneration. Each Crystal Wyvern has its breath attack, allowing it to breathe out its element forward in a specific manner. The Elemental Breath will deal damage to enemies depending on the breath itself as well as any effects that apply debuffs to enemies such as slow, burning or life drain.
The Crystal Wyvern has wide and powerful wings which it flaps, blowing small to medium-sized creatures away when landed.
It is also possible for Wyverns to harvest trees with this wing attack, allowing players to get a good amount of resources from it. While airborne, the Crystal Wyvern can pick up small to medium-sized creatures with its talons and drop them at will.
Pressing the corresponding button will cause the Crystal Wyvern to pick up a creature and repeating this will drop the picked up creature. Crystal Wyverns are some of the fastest flying creatures in Ark and can easily travel across maps within a short amount of time.
