If you have two children close together, or are having twins, you can find prams that convert from one seat to two. Or if you have a child who will walk sometimes, look for a pram with an on-board buggy board that they can ride on when their little legs get tired.

You should also consider the fold — some prams need seat units removing before folding, others simply glide shut with a push of a button. And as for the lingo, a travel system is normally a kit with a bassinet for newborns and a seat unit for when they get older, plus, they can take an infant car seat normally with adaptors.

We recruited babies and children of all different ages to ride in them. There are many great features we were impressed with on the iCandy lime. And as for the drive, the push is easy and the chair nips along nicely. This is a great option for city dwellers who want a bit more luxury from their ride.

The Oyster3 is also surprisingly lightweight compared to some of its competitors, so it would be one of the easiest out of the more comprehensive prams to lug up stairs if need be. The five-point harness clips are magnetic, which helps when securing our little one in place. More papped than Britney , this stroller is a celebrity favourite, including the Kardashians and Jessica Biel. And it seems like those celebs know a good pram when they see one.

This pram feels really premium — the fabrics are hardwearing and luxurious on the hood and seat, and the handlebar and arm bar are made of a lovely brown leatherette material that is very tactile and nice and easy to grip.

There is a summer seat, which has a mesh back to help keep passengers cool, and in colder weather you can add a seat pad which is included that feels really cosy. Our tall parent testers loved this pram as the handle baseline is quite high up which might not be great for petite parents , and extends further upwards too.

Definitely an easy one-hand fold here. The xplory X has an iconic Stokke look to it, and the clever design that goes along with their products. The seat unit was the snuggest seat of all we tested, and our little one looked so cosy in their nest. Your child can be parent or world facing, and the seat has a cute little foot rest that slips on the bottom. That said, it does glide nicely with the flexibility of locking the front wheel if you are covering rough terrain. For those precious naps while out and about, the seat unit reclines well, and allows an almost horizontal angle.

This jazzy little number has an eye-catching metallic pattern in the sun canopy, and comes in lilac, aqua or the standard black.

The seat unit is quilted in a geometric pattern to match, and looks really comfortable. The shoulder straps also have pads for extra luxury travel. The clic claims to be a one-hand recline, which is true, but you have to fiddle with a clasp to get it back upright again.

However, the clic lies completely flat, so newborns and pram nappers will be just fine in it. We were impressed by this pushchair because it had so many of the nice touches of more expensive, bigger prams, yet it had most of the benefits of a smaller stroller too. We liked the smart black colourway with tan leatherette trim on the handle and bar, and the cream fabric insert. The hood is extendable, has UPF50 and also has a pull-out mesh sunshade that tucks away into the top, which gives more coverage than any other hood we tried.

There is also a nice roomy basket, with some pockets to store smaller items. And best of all? Yes, the designers of this pram clearly knew what parents of small children need. We thought this was a fantastic pushchair, which ticked pretty much all of our boxes. It has the footprint of a single pram, but can convert to twin or double mode, and it has an integrated buggy board too.

And the basket is epic. It folds down well though, and you can fold it with the seat unit and bumper bar attached. The seat unit is quilted and feels really luxurious. And once our little darling is rocked to sleep thanks to the decent suspension, the seat reclines really smoothly using a handle at the top of the seat.

Suitable from birth, this compact pushchair lies totally flat and is a comfortable ride too. Read our full review of the Silver Cross Wave newborn pram. Compatible with the Graco SnugEssential i-Size car seat, the Graco Transform 2-in-one Pramette to Pushchair comes with a cosy newborn liner, a pushchair seat, an apron, and a rain cover included.

When folded, this pram is compact and free-standing. We like the fact that you can fold the frame with the pramette in place or — when using the pushchair — with the seat unit facing in either direction. Our tester particularly liked the accessories. The basket is also really accessible and easy to pop things in and out of, without dodging the swinging legs of a toddler or risking a muddy welly to the face!

This is a sturdy, straightforward pram at an excellent price compared to other similar pram models. This travel system comes with all the accessories you could possibly need — the chassis, bassinet suitable for overnight sleeping with stand, pushchair seat, and even a car seat, along with an Isofix base. The large wheels are designed to cope with all kinds of terrain. The height-adjustable handlebar is a great feature for parents of different heights. Jill Bragg put this pram to the test with her newborn daughter, Grace.

She says the carrycot and car seat both fit onto the frame easily. The pram is a very smooth ride for my baby, thanks to the large wheels, and it handled different types of terrain pretty well. Some prams seem to have been designed for either the parent or the child, but our tester feels this pram has been engineered with the needs of both in mind. The aluminium pushchair frame is compatible with selected car seats to create a travel system, making light work of moving your baby between the car and the pram.

You can convert this pram to a double pushchair if you buy the additional converter kit. The pram has an adjustable handlebar and a reversible pushchair seat that can be reclined with one hand — useful if your baby nods off in the pram. Our tester is Johanna Hewitson, mum to Georgia, three months. The lining on the carrycot cover is beautifully soft, but it has to be attached with a zip, which is quite fiddly. Our tester thinks the shopping basket looks very spacious, but she struggled to get her shopping in as the carrycot is so low, restricting access to the basket.

Other standout features of this pram are the puncture-proof PU tyres — no terrain is off limits — and the handy storage pockets on the back of the seat unit for stashing your purse and keys.

The Mamas and Papas Ocarro is a premium pushchair designed for use from birth to toddlerhood. The chassis is heavy and those with smaller car boots might struggle to squeeze it in — the fit was snug in a Volkswagen Polo, and we had to remove the parcel shelf. Although this is an expensive option, our tester feels it represents good value for money. Ease of use, the comfort of the seat unit and bassinet, and well-designed features like the extended sunshade, air vents, head pillow, and big basket make this a brilliant buy.

The Salsa 4 by ABC Design is a contemporary pram with swivel front wheels, a reversible seat unit, and a bassinet suitable for overnight sleeping.

Large air-filled tyres and integrated suspension offer a really smooth ride, even off-road. She was, however, impressed by how well this pram handles, especially on public transport.

Our tester Rohese Devereux, mum to Lemba, 11 weeks, found this a practical yet stylish pram that made moving around with her newborn baby hassle-free. Although heavy to carry when folded, the chassis is incredibly quick and easy to open and fold. Despite its weight, the Cruz feels light and nippy to push, and seamlessly navigated the one-way system of a Scandinavian interiors store like a dream.

One of the standout features of this pram is its spacious, easily accessible shopping basket. Our tester also likes the extendable handle — a useful feature for taller parents. This pram has good suspension and tackles puddles, sand, grass, and small bumps easily. This is a stylish but reliable pushchair that offers maximum comfort for your baby whilst being easy and intuitive for parents to operate.

The bassinet has a deep, soft mattress that my daughter was comfortable on immediately, and the suspended bassinet rocked slightly during walks or when stationary, so she was comforted to sleep or calmed easily.
